How to Break Wax Slabs

Welcome to this week’s post! A commonly asked question we get is, how to break wax that comes in slabs? Most parafin waxes are solid in slab form, some softer then others.

Most people would like to break this slab down in order for it to fit more easily in a melter or melting pot. The easiest way to break these slabs is to keep them in the bag you purchased them in and drop them on the concrete floor (basement floor, sidewalk, etc.). This generally will break the wax into smaller chunks, you can continue this process multiple times to get smaller chunks.

Another method of break wax especially if you purchased a case and they did not come in bags is to use a hammer. Hold one end the wax with your left hand and the other side of the slabĀ over the box resting on the end on the other wax. This will put the slab on a diagonal making it sturdy to hit. At this point you will hit the hammer against the middle of the slab of wax (multiple times of needed). Please beĀ careful all your fingers and limbs are out of the way of the hammer.

Both of these methods are very effective and will make the wax easier to work with! Please always be careful when using with of these methods to break the wax.

As always please let us know if you have any questions!
